I had a dream and in the dream I was going out someplace special. I was all set to go and all I needed to do was grab my keys and bag and there it was - the prettiest bag I ever had sitting on the hall table. It was a vibrantly red handbag in a squishy soft material I had not seen in years. The red handbag was large and the style was current even though the fabric had been popular years and years ago.
The uniqueness of the modern style in the out-dated material made that handbag so appealing that since that dream I found myself prowling the store aisles looking at every single red handbag I could find. There were many bags in various shades of red and a multitude of sizes and style. The thing that surprised me most was the variations in the color red. Some were such a deep red, they were verging on burgundy, and some that were so light they were verging on rose.
I was so obsessed with red handbags that I actually went online to see what the fashion colors of the last ten years were. Well, not all the colors, just the reds. Currently there is a red - sort of. To my mind it is a very deep dusky rose. The only reference to red as a popular fashion choice was about red being the most popular color in the early years of this century but only for formal women's dresses.
There had to be a reason for this gorgeous handbag in my dream. The next research I carried out was on the meaning of red as a fashion color. It is fairly well known that red is a color denoting intense emotions, such as passion and love. People do respond to red. There was a study done on the color of cars and the conclusion was that red cars were more popular than other cars. Some people see red as a confrontational color and recommend that you do not wear red in negotiations.
But we are talking about a red handbag not a red power suit. My interpretation is that red is exciting and enticing. It makes a statement about you and your passion. Wear a plain dark and muted color for business purposes and carry a red handbag and you set yourself apart from the milieu. It does say "notice me" and that is a good thing. The only problem you might have is finding just the handbag you want. But it is fun looking.
